A truly special property - one of the last of its kind on Hatteras Island. Wild wooded acreage spills down a shallow hill to reveal its very own private sandy soundfront beach. Total seclusion...Sunsets to die for...What more could you ask for? All centrally located in the middle of Hatteras Island within walking distance to several restaurants, ice-cream, surf shops, etc...This campsite is one of the last undeveloped wooded areas left in the villages of Rodanthe/Waves/Salvo within the Cape Hatteras National Seashore on Hatteras Island. Set yourself up, nestled in the live oak trees that open onto a private sandy soundfront beach. You will have Hip Kite Camp all to yourself - no other campers allowed on the entire half-acre property. Relax and enjoy amazing sunsets over the Pamlico Sound after a good day of surfing or kiteboarding - launching right from the sandy sound beach at your camp. The property is walking distance to beautiful uncrowded beaches and the Atlantic Ocean with some of the best surfing on the east coast as well as fishing, birding, etc.... Just a short walk to Dairy Queen (3 min), grab some açaí bowls and coffee at Hatteras Bowls, learn to kite surf at Real Kiteboarding, have breakfast at Ocean Atlantic Cafe , visit Hatteras Sail Shop, Hatteras Surf Shop, etc... Bring bikes and you can leave your vehicle parked - you won’t need it for the rest of your stay. Kayaks available (use caution, not responsible, Pamlico sound waters can be very windy.)

Directions to the site were good since it does not have a specific address. The "driveway" back to the site is tight for a travel trailer. I was able to navigate it but it would work better if the trees/shrubs were cut back to not hang over the driveway so much. The site was open and had good space. There's a nice path to the sound that isn't a far walk at all.

Great Spot! Sight was clean and as described, easy to find if you use your eyes. Fantastic sunset views. Only cons were the mosquitos (it had just rained a lot before we got there) and the sea grass on the sound side beach that needs to be raked up. Short bike ride to the ocean side which is where we spent most of our time. People few and far between which is exactly what we like. Do not expect much in the way of amenities in Waves, it’s very quiet and no frills which is what we love. Small little general store a short bike ride from the site and we got food from BoardWok and Waterman’s which were both good. Waterman’s has a great view for sunsets.

Very beautiful place. Very private. Maybe 20 yard walk to the sound side. Very convenient right beside a dollar general. Had a hard time backing my 16ft travel trailer anything much bigger will be tough unless you are skillful. I plan to come back. Host was great very respectful and left us alone.

Great private spot with access to the water just a short walk away. Was able to back my 20 foot camper in with plenty of room at the site. Highly recommend and will be back.
